Geothermal specialists from Iceland GeoSurvey, Mr. Benedikt Steingrímsson and Mr. Thorsteinn Egilson, instructed a short course on borehole geophysics for geothermal development in Ethiopia. The course was held for 28 employees of the Geological Survey of Ethopia (GSE) and the Geothermal Sector Development Project of Ethiopian Elelectric Power (EEP). It took place from June 6th – 18th in Addis Ababa and the field work was in the Aluto Langano geothermal field.
The short course was organized by the Geothermal Training Programme of the United Nations University (UNU-GTP). It was funded by the Icelandic Ministry for Foreign Affairs, and the Nordic Development Fund through the Geothermal Exploration Project, which has the objective of supporting geothermal exploration and capacity building in East Africa.
